Shades Hair Studio's New Policies


Greetings to our Shades family! I hope everyone is well. We are reopening on July 8th. We will be taking fewer clients per day, so please plan to schedule your appointment one to two weeks ahead. The past three months have caused a major shift. In order to keep us all safe during these changing times, we must abide by these new rules. 


You must arrive on time. In order to maintain social distancing, we have to operate on a limited capacity, so it is imperative that we run on schedule. We may be unable to accommodate late arrivals. If we need to modify or reschedule your appointment because of a late arrival, you will be charged, in full, for the service.


 Upon arrival, please wait outside. Call or text us at 973 533-0896, and we’ll meet you at the door. 


We will ask you the following questions. If you answer “yes” to any of the questions below, you will be denied entry into the salon.  No appointment can be rescheduled for at least 72 hours after being symptom free, without having taken fever-reducing medication or before 14 days after exposure to a suspected or confirmed COVID19 positive individual.

  • Have you or anyone in your household had any of the following symptoms in the last 21 days: sore throat, cough, chills, body aches for unknown reasons, shortness of breath for unknown reasons, loss of smell, loss of taste, fever at or greater than 100 degrees Fahrenheit?

  • Have you or anyone in your household been tested for COVID-19?

  • Have you or anyone in your household visited or received treatment in a hospital, nursing home, long-term care, or other health care facility in the past 30 days?

  • Have you or anyone in your household traveled in the U.S. in the past 21 days?

  • Have you or anyone in your household traveled on a cruise ship in the last 21 days?

  • Are you or anyone in your household a health care provider or emergency responder?

  • Have you or anyone in your household cared for an individual who is in quarantine or is a presumptive positive or has tested positive for COVID-19?

  • Do you have any reason to believe you or anyone in your household has been exposed to or acquired COVID-19?

  • To the best of your knowledge have you been in close proximity to any individual who tested positive for COVID-19?


Your temperature will be checked, before you are allowed entry into the salon. Any individual  who has a temperature over 100.4 degrees shall be sent home and not permitted to enter the premises until at least 72 hours after being symptom free (without the use of fever reducing medication). 


You are required to wear a mask, throughout your salon visit.


Only pre-scheduled services will be administered. If you feel you need additional services, other than previously booked, please notify us at least 48 hours before your appointment time.


Only clients receiving services, a parent of a minor receiving services, or a caregiver of a client in need of assistance will be allowed in the salon. 


If you must use the restroom, please use disinfectant spray (provided) after each use.


Please utilize pre-payment or remote, contactless payment options, whenever possible. We accept Zelle, CashApp, Bitcoin and PayPal. Our point of sale equipment will be available for self checkout and disinfected after each use. If you’re paying cash, please place the exact amount in an envelope. No change will be given. All accounts must be settled before leaving the salon.


If you must cancel your appointment, please notify us 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. Cancellations made within the 24 hour time frame will be subjected to a $60 cancellation fee. Multiple cancellations will forfeit acceptance of future appointments.
